As a public authority, Beliris is aware of its responsibility to lead by example. We are committed to an integrated approach to sustainability based on the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We strive to carry out our activities responsibly and make full use of our expertise in managing projects from start to finish to contribute to a more sustainable future.

What does this mean in practice?

Beliris is committed to developing projects with an innovative and well-founded approach to sustainability, addressing both environmental and social challenges. Together with our contractors, engineering consultants and construction partners, we ensure that worksites are well integrated into their surroundings and that disruption to local residents and users is kept to a minimum.

By incorporating practical and sustainable solutions into our projects, Beliris contributes to:

• accessibility for people with reduced mobility;
• more sustainable and active urban mobility;
• the reuse and recovery of materials, and the use of environmentally friendly products;
• energy-efficient and water-saving technologies;
• greywater management;

Within our own offices, Beliris also promotes environmental initiatives together with the Belgian Federal Public Service Mobility and Transport. We encourage our staff to adopt sustainable practices through awareness-raising on energy consumption, sustainable procurement, the responsible use of water and consumables, and sustainable mobility.
