The preliminary project for the Brussels Conservatory is ready
The preliminary project for the restoration and optimisation of the Brussels Conservatory is ready. The delegated project owner Beliris and SA Conservatoire, together with the design offices Origin-A2RC-FVWWarchitecten, proudly presented the results of the studies to teachers, students and local residents before the submission of the single permit application scheduled for the end of the year.
Restoration and renovation. This involved finding a balance between two different - and sometimes contradictory - needs, i.e. saving the historical heritage and adapting the building to the contemporary needs of its users. This balancing act required a thoughtful approach and consultation with all the parties involved.
The design offices Origin, FVWW and A2RC examined this issue with the help of a number of partners, such as KCB and CrB as clients and the Royal Commission for Monuments and Sites and the Directorate for Cultural Heritage as heritage experts. The preliminary design is complete, including the two additional houses that were added to the project this year. The next step is to wait for planning permission so that work can begin.
This summer, Beliris asked musicians, music lovers, teachers and students to share their experiences at the Conservatory. They are looking forward to the restoration of their beloved conservatory.
